He is referred to in Milford as an "after planter." He was not one of the original planters, but settled in Milford about 1645. He was not on the lists of planters in 1639 or 1643, but in 1646 he held a 3 acre houselot.
He was a carpenter and worked in Milford from 1645 through at least 1669. In his will, dated 25 July 1689, he states "that all my carpenters tools are exampted wch I give to my son William." His inventory dated 31 August 1689 lists carpenter’s tools valued at 9s.
He died on August 6, 1689 in Milford, New Haven County, Connecticut and was buried in Milford Cemetery.
William married Joanna, surname unknown, in 1650 in Milford.
