"WILL: Dated 2 Sep 1693, codicil 26 May 1697, inventory 23 Jun 1697. Before his death he made legal conveyance to his son John and two daus Sarah Barlows and Abigail Reed of his whole estate, and the widow by agreement received satisfaction in lieu of the dower she could claim; administration granted to son John, and son-in-law Joseph Barlow, and dau Abigail. The widow Mary acquitted the estate, 23 Jun 1697.

RESIDENCE: Settled in Fairfield before 1673

DEED: Prior to 1673 he purchased land in Fairfield from Cornelius Hull; bought from his sister-in-law Sarah Baldwin in 1675, and from Daniel Westcott in 1681. In 1675 he had land by gift from Thomas Skidmore, his wife Deborah's stepfather. He conveyed the Hedges lot to his children, Sarah and Abigail Read, and the rest of his lands to son John Read, 2 Sep 1693, and gave then another conveyance, 7 May 1697, the dau Sarah then being called Barlow. "
