William REED. Born on Mar 27 1818 in Newburyport. Died on Nov. 5 1894 in Fall River.  William Reed wrote an autobiography (among other things) that was published in 1903 by Davol Press in Taunton. Two of their sons  (William & Milton) purchased the Taunton Daily Gazette, and it remained in  the Reed family for many years.  The William Reed Memorial Scholarship at Harvard was established by their son Milton, a prominent Fall River attorney who served a term as mayor.  Another son Waldo was also an attorney in Fall  River.

Said bonds to be convertible into money and the proceeds to be invested and re-invested, from time to time, as you and your successors may deem expedient. Truly yours, Milton Reed."
