The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Sergeant William Wallace, United States Army, for gallantry in engagements at Cedar Creek, Montana and other campaigns during the period 21 October 1876 to 8 January 1877, while serving with Company C, 5th U.S. Infantry.
