William died in the Narragansett War in the "Great Swamp Fight". Accompanied troops from Fairfield County as Surgeon in King Philip's War, Jan 1675/6.

Inventory of his estate gave his name as Ens. William Ward. It was dated 4 Mar 1675/6; the widow made oath.

Report of the First Reunion of the Association of Descendants of Andrew Ward, 1905, apparently identifies a different William Ward. That book states William was likely born about 1645 and died 1701, aged 56. He wasn't named in his father's will of 1659. Since William married Deborah Lockwood in 1658, this seems to be the wrong William Ward.

William WARD and Deborah LOCKWOOD were married on 20 October 1658 in Fairfield, Fairfield County, Connecticut.17 Deborah LOCKWOOD14, daughter of Robert LOCKWOOD, was born on 12 October 1636 in Watertown, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.16

Deborah was the daughter of Robert Lockwood.

After the death of William Ward, Deborah married (2) John Topping of Southampton, Long Island.

19 Apr 1678. Marriage agreement between Ebenezer Hawley and Hester Ward, daughter of Mrs. Deborah Topping of Southampton.

William WARD and Deborah LOCKWOOD had the following children:

Hester WARD14 was born about 1664. She died in 1732 at the age of 68. Hester was born at Fairfield, died at age 67. She married (1) Ebenezer Hawley, contract dated 19 Apr 1678. She married (2) at Fairfield on 17 Oct 1682 to Ephraim Nichols; married (30 at Fairfield, Nov 1691, to Eliphalet Hill; married (4) about 1697, Robert Lord.

Dated Mar. 4, 1676, the Probate Records of Greenfield, CT, state, "Inventory of the estate of William Ward, deceased, £595. 11s. 9d. The widow made oath that the statement was true."
