Famous Mathematician, primarily for developing a mechanical device for
changing linear motion into circular motion, now known as the "Lipkin
Parallelogram." He remained poor all his life, in part because of the
fact that he was Jewish in the academic world. He lived for a time in
Petersburgh before returning to Koenigsberg. He received his Ph.D. from
the University of Jena in 1870 and died five years later at the age of
30.
