Mr Jovo Calic, 17, an unmarried farmer from Breznik, Croatia, boarded the Titanic at Southampton as a third class passenger.

To reach his destination of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, he bought his ticket from the agent: Johann Isidor Büchel, Buchs for 170 Swiss francs (ticket number 315093, £8 13s 3d).

Calic died in the sinking. His body if recovered, was never identified.

- Jovo had to go to work in Austria to earn money to pay for his ticket. He had brother Dane, who was a blacksmith, and Petar, a dress-maker. Boja is daughter of Petar, Jovo's brother. There were seven family members. There is still Jovo here (nephew) - others are gone around the world, even to Australia.

Roditelji Rade i Soka.
