Mrs Frank John Goldsmith (Emily Alice Brown), 31, was born in the Autumn of 1880.
A resident of Stroud, Kent she was emigrating to America with her husband Frank and 9 year old son Frankie. Another son, Bertie, had died from diptheria towards the end of 1911.
Emily was the only one of nine children not to have already emigrated, now Emily too was crossing the Atlantic to a new life. The family were travelling to Detroit, Michigan.
Emily Goldsmith and her family boarded the Titanic at Southampton as third class passengers. During the voyage she got to know May Howard who was travelling to Canada. Emily and Frankie were rescued, probably in Collapsible C.
After their rescue Emily and Frankie made their way to Detroit where they settled. Emily found employment as a dressmaker. She acted as a volunteer for the American Red Cross during World War Two.
Emily eventually remarried to Harry Illman, she died September 22, 1955 on board a train in Ashland Ohio where many of her family lived.
