Prinsessen giftet seg 12. januar 1961 med Johan Martin Ferner. Det kongelige hoff omtaler henne med titulaturet prinsesse Astrid, fru Ferner, selv om hennes offisielle (folkeregistrerte) navn er Astrid Maud Ingeborg Ferner. Høflighetsformen «fru» har ingen offisiell stilling i Norge, men kan brukes av alle i private sammenhenger. Hun og hennes ektemann er bosatt i Oslo.
