I was born in Royal Brisbane Hospital on Tuesday 31st July, 1956. My parents are John Thomas Boustead and Corrine Valerie nee Lea. I was the second child born and already had a big sister, Roslyn Kay, she was 1yr 5 days older then me.
When I was 5 years old I started school. The first school I went to was, St. Phillamina's at
Grovely, Qld., the named changed to St. William's when I was in Grade 2. My best friend there was Leona McGorrie, which was still in contact with me until I turned 34. I have no idea where she is now.
In 1963 my youngest sister was born, Maria Therese. Rossie and I were very happy to have her with us.
From Grade 3 to 8 we lived at 10 Canning Street, Holland Park, Qld. The primary school I attended , gr.3 to 5 was St. Joesph Convent as this school only went to grade 5. Years 6 - 7 I went to Seville Road State School and first year of High School was at Cavendish Road State High, which was just up the road from where we lived.
Dad, John Thomas Boustead, passed away April 23, 1968 and mum remarried, Keith Vincent Christensen. Keith was a farmer who lived at Kalbar, Qld. When they married we moved to live on a farm in Esk, Qld. This farm had fruit orchard, cows, ploughed fields which grew many vegs which was taken to the Rocklea Markets in Brisbane early hours of the morning.
Mum and Keith sold the farm to buy a Convenience Store in Esk. We had a pool table and juke box to entertain the kids of Esk as there wasn't anything for them to do in their spare time. Hamburgers, Milkshakes, Lollies, Tea, Coffee, Sandwiches/Rolls, and sit down meals were provided as well as Groceries, Fruit and Vegs. We were also the seller of Tickets to go on the bus to Toowoomba or Ipswich.
Roslyn passed away October 23, 1973, she was 18, while we were living in Esk. She was working at he Esk Hospital as a domestic.
I went to work as soon as I left school. This job was in a buliding under the Story Bridge in Brisbane. I can't remember the name of the place but I do remember making clothes there for some sort of company. i didn't stay there long as i got another job working with my Aunt Betty, Mums sister.
Finn Blinds was the name of the company. I was a personnal secretary/labourer making Venitian Blinds, Awnings and Fly Screens. It was a fantastic job!
Other types of work I have done over the years were, Waitress, Cook, Work in Bakery front counter, Nanny, House Keeping for elderly people, Kitchen Hand in Hotel, Manager of our own Convience Store in Rosewood and Office Temping.
I have had 2 marriages, first one was to Bruce Wayne Klaehn in 1976. I had 2 children,Kelli-Lee Alice, born 25th Nov 1976 and Nathan John born 14th June 1980. I was divorced from Bruce before Nathan was born.
My second marriage was to David Michael Hobden on March 8, 1986. I had 2 children, Tillena Louise born 16th September, 1886 and Michael Kevin Vincent born 22nd. November, 1988.
David had a house built in Marburg, Qld which Kelli, Nathan and I moved into. The address was 10 Moriarty Lane, Marburg, Qld. We lived there for about 10years then built a new much larger home in Rosewood, Qld. (43 Mill Street, Rosewood, Qld). We have been living here since 1993 until this present day. We had a family convenience store called, "Hobden's Convenience Store", in Rosewood this we had for 12mths. It was opened 7 days a week, and with David working as well as running the store, it got too much for us, especially when the youngest 2, Tillena and Michael, we still at school.
Kelli and now married to Ken Murray and have 3 beautiful children, Dylan, Cody and Natalie. We also have a little angel, Chelsea Brooke who is Natalie's twin sister.
We were blessed to have met our little angel when she was born, and I will always remember her. Kelli, Ken and the kids now live in Emerald, Qld.
Nathan is now living with his girlfriend, Kristy Hall, in Grandchester, Qld., and are expecting a baby that is due 4th March 2008. Tillena is living with her partner, Adrian Tween at Cannonvale, North Queensland. They both work for Cruise Whitsundays, Tillena as Administrator Assistant at the office at Able Point and Adrian as Porter at Shute Harbour. Michael works as AO2/2 at the Oxley Police Service Academy with I.T.P. (Intelligance Training Programme), and still lives at home as its too expensive for him to live anywhere else at the moment.
Kelli has a job working at the Funeral Home in Emerald, Ken working in Blackwater as Machanical Engineer, Nathan has worked in the Meat Industry since he was 13 yrs old. He has also worked as a butcher in local Super IGA Store in Rosewood, Celery Picker, and mulitable jobs on farms picking veges. Kristy is now a quilified teacher and working in Kindergarten in Lowood, Tillena, receptionist at Cruise Whitsunday's, Adrian, Porter with Cruise Whitsunday's and Michael, AO2/3 Administration with the Queensland Police Service Acadamey in Oxley, Qld.
Working at home doing normal stuff, do temping when I'm called up. Play on computer a fair bit as nothing much on TV. Love my gardens and trees. Enjoying catching up with friends, going to the Movies or buying DVD's, which is my downfall. Watching my kids grow up and have loving partner's that look after them. But best of all I totally LOVE my grandkids and can't wait for the next lot to come along.
I have two beautiful dogs, Makaylah and Makybe and one cat which is Kelli's, but he didn't want to leave when Kelli left home. His name is Charlie and he's 15 yrs old.
Home revovations are usually done by me with some help from David and Michael. I have painted the rooms in the house and sanded and polished the floors. In the bedrooms I have painted the floors.
Three years ago, David, Mick and I put up a 13m x 4m verandah on the back of our house. It is fantasic! and we mostly entertain and eat out there, especially in summer.
I have a rainforest garden that the verandah overlooks and its flourishing well with all the rain we have had of late.
Towards the end of July 2007, Dave and I took a well earned trip. We went to Charleville, Emerald, Barcaldine, Longreach, Blackall, Gladstone then home. We stopped and walked around most of the towns along the way, stretching our legs.
We stayed in a Donger that was behind the Sheakspear Hotel in Barcaldine for 3 days. On my birthday we went to Longreach to check out the Hall Of Fame. Wow! what a place that was. The reason we stayed in Barcaldine, was to check out Nana & Pop Boustead's old house, as I have some wonderful memories of it. I couldn't believe that it was still there, same paint work and all. That is where the pic for my profile was taken, me standing at the front gate of the old home. I want to go back there again in the not too distant future. We walked everywhere in Barcaldine, why drive, we saw more on our walks.
We visited the graveyard to see if we could find Nana & Pop's grave and anyone else that was a Boustead. After searching and searching to no advail, we went to the Council Chambers there to see if they could tell us where they would be located. The lady at the reception desk gave us a print out of the Boustead's who were buried there. Upon returning to the graveyard, it was very heart breaking when we couldn't find too many of them as they didnt have Headstones.
On the day we left we went to Nana & Pop's graves to place flowers on them and took some pics. We also marked the graveyard map that was given to us, where the ones we did find can be located for the future.
