About

He stowed away on a sailing ship and came to America, probablyaround 1751, when he was 16 or 17 years old. Having no money,he was sold to pay his passage. Listed in the SIze Roil of Captain Thomas Wagener's Company at Fort Holland, probably early 1755, in the French and Indian War. He fought in the battle of Fort Duquesne or Battle of Monongahela where General Edward Braddock was defeated July 9,1755 and was one of the 459 men out of 1,386 who survived the battle, due to the gallant leadership of George Washington 23 years of age. He was 1 of 30 survivors of the Virginia Troops. He was a member of Captain Enoch Osborne's Company of Montgomery Co., VA during and after the Revolutionary War.
Ezekial also served in Lord Dunmores War William Herbert was his Captain and on his list of tithables, Botetourt County Virginia in 1771. Again in 1774 he served under Captain David Looney's Company.
Served 35 days; pay 2 pounds 12 shillings, 6 pense.
Ref the Library of Virginia Auditors Accounts of Dumores War 1774 Misc Reel 78 PUblic Service Claims Fincastle County Virginia. Daniel Boone was one of 3 Lt's under Captain Looney. Israel Boone was killed at the Battle of Blue Licks Aug 1782, Daniel Boone's son.
Revolutionary War Ezekiel Young name was the first person to Swear his Oath Allegiance to the State. Captain Osborn's Company of Montgomery County, Virginia on Sept 29,1777. He was residing in Surrey North Carolina. Fort Defiance. He was shown fit for duty on Captain Enoch Osborne's Company of Militia 1781. William Adkins and Eshriam Young were listed in the same company with him.
On the Muster Roll of Captain Enoch OSborne's Company 1783 list Ezekiel Young as 1rst Lt. after Captain Enoch Osborne's name. The Preston papers list him as a collector of fines For the Bounty of Soldiers, before 20th of December 1782.

No 374 he had 150 acres in Surry County lying on Neatman Creek joing the land of Thomas Hampton. August 1 1778,
Ezekiel Married Ruth Whitehead a North Carolina girl 1765. His sons from this Union are Robert, Joseph, Ezekiel Jr, William and Thomas. He had one daughter named Ruthy.

There is a marker at Young's Chapel Cemetery, Oak Hill Academy,Grayson Co., Virginia. Listed in 1794 Grayson County, Virginia Personal Property Tax List.
