List of counties of Ireland

Ireland is an island in the Atlantic Ocean off the north-western coast of continental Europe. It is the third-largest island in Europe. To its east is the island of Great Britain, from which it is separated by the Irish Sea and North Channel.

The Irish constitution proclaims that the state´s name is Éire (in the Irish Gaelic language), while the world knows it as Ireland. The Republic of Ireland is the official description of the 26-county Irish state. It was created under the 1921 Anglo-Irish Treaty making it completely independent from England and Northern Ireland.

Politically, Ireland is divided between the Republic of Ireland, which covers five-sixths of the island, and Northern Ireland, a part of the United Kingdom, which covers the remaining area and is located in the north-east of the island.

The following books can be found as free downloads on-line

  • A History of Ireland written in the year 1571 by Edmund Campion (who spent two years in Ireland, then, avoiding religious conflict in England - only to be hanged, drawn and quartered on his eventual return!) The book describes his view of Irish folk at the time, as well as thorough input from historical sources, family lineages and English royalty -names, claims over Ireland, etc.
  • A descriptive and Architectural Sketch of the Grace Mausoleum, in the Queen's County (by S. Grace), taken from the Statitical account, or Parochial Survey of Ireland, by W.S. Mason (Sheffield Grace and Grace Family).

This 'booklet' of about 30 large pages, is packed with a mix of information on places, settings, buildings & costs, family names,history and stories.. flowing one into the other - dated, being pre-1700s or so. The buildings are apparently now ruins - the state of the tombs need yet to be explained;

  • ** These books are scanned, typos, and all. There is a Free Book Form at www.general-books.net, and means for joining membership for further free downloaded books.'selected from a million books'. (USA).
