This is a beginning of the family lineage of my surname, Edminster, which, according to the book "The Edminster Family in America" by Frank Custer Edminster, Jr., has been spelled in various ways: Edminsteire, Edmister, Edminister, etc.
According to Frank Custer Edminster, Jr's book, John Edminsteire, born in 1633, is the origin of this specific line, which was based in Freetown, Massachusetts.
Edminsters in this line served in the Revolutionary War (7 members), the war of 1812 (6 members), and the Civil War (24 members, all for the North).
Members of this line also notably married into significant American families, specifically the Makepeace family of the Plymouth Colony and the Shafter family of General William Shafter, Medal of Honor winning Union Army Civil War and Spanish American War General.
