We know that our family worked on Broadway during the turn of the century - Fritz Weisse did scenery and Aunt Martha did something too (Magician Assistant - maybe in the Zigfield Follies. Mag. Asst don't get billed so her career is hard to find. Plus we know Martha knew Hammerstein.

I always wondered how the Reisigs met the Weisses.

Today I came across an interesting document, well actually a pdf and some listings on websites for the early 1900's.

I came across this first [http://www.ibdb.com/person.php?id=409914] which listed Scenic Design by Theodore Reisig

This site showing a musical with Settings by Julius Dowe, Theodore Reisig. [http://www.guidetomusicaltheatre.com/shows_n/naughty_marietta.htm]

then this PDF popped up when I searched for Fritz Weisse ./ Theodore Reisig (I have not come across scenery stuff for Fritz before, so it was a surprise) - Not only is both Fritz Weisse & Theodore Reisig there but also that guy Julius Dowe and Oscar Hammerstein. [http://frankhamilton.org/ph/ph0.pdf]

Do a search on the document to find Theodore Reisig as master machinist.

So what I want to know is... IS THIS OUR THEODORE REISIG?

1/10/12

came across this 1908 directory of businesses in Manhattan and Bronx listing Theodore Reisig & Co. (Theodore Reisig & Frederick Weisse) 627 E. 15th street. [http://books.google.com/books?id=tMUpAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA685&lpg=PA685&dq=reisig+48th+street+nyc&source=bl&ots=KfGfVV2iIJ&sig=vbCuXah7C1WmCEA3Mg7VE-nSsd0&hl=en&sa=X&ei=TnkMT7CcLMTX0QGUyNX8BQ&sqi=2&ved=0CCoQ6AEwAg#v=onepage&q=reisig%2048th%20street%20nyc&f=false]

I know Fred is not Fritz name but Fred is the english version

in 1910 the census has Fred & Hannah Weisse living in Queens. [https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/M5HG-NHG]

I found the wedding of Johanna Reisig to Fritz Wesse for March 1909 [https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/F6WV-M5W]
