Establishing the "B" generation

South African Stamvaders/Progenitors (SV/PROGs)

Note - the image right is the project image and is not intended to be used as a "marker" on a profile. There is one that can be used - see photo-gallery.

The purpose of this project ... to work through the South African SV/PROGs to establish that the "b" generation de Villiers numbers (DVNs) are correct (at the same time determining whether the numbers as published is SAF/SAG are correct or not). If there is a discrepancy there needs to be documentation/sources shown to establish otherwise, and that information must be noted on the profiles involved and in the SAG Irregularities project.

If the "B" generation is considered to be correct then where used the de Villers Numbers (DVN's) (not obligatory) of subsequent generations can follow correctly.

This exercise needs more than the curators' participation to carry it out effectively - we need volunteers to work hand in hand with one another. If you wish to get involved please add the name of the SV/PROG you wish to work on in the list below to show your intention, with your name alongside it. If you wish to collaborate with another user please invite them to join you, adding their name as well.

Where SAF/SAG and/or Genealogies of Old Cape Families are the only sources that support the "b" generation it is acceptable to add the following to the "about" field -

"B" generation established in accordance with SAF/SAG and/or OCF - no dispute recorded. Please contact managers if this information is not correct.

Curators can move that note to the Curator note when the fields are locked.

When you have finished the work (added sources/verification to all "B" generation profiles for the SV/PROG you are working on) contact a Curator to MP and lock the fields and then only add a ✔ (copy and paste) after the name so as not to duplicate work.

To participate in any project

- you do need to first be a collaborator or collaborating with a collaborator - so please join the project using the request link under "actions" at the top right of the page. Visit Geni Wikitext, Unicode and images which gives a great deal of assistance.

List of SV/PROGS being worked on

Due to space restrictions the list below needs to link to the SV/PROG in question ONLY - any explanations etc. need to be made on the Profiles concerned, not here.

Any notes regarding other generations need to be confined to the profiles in question. Only the SV/PROGS themselves need to be linked to this project -

Not the "B" generation profiles.

Please make a note of ERRORS in the SAG/SAF tables on the SAG Irregularities project - not here.
