Orson Leon Crandall. My Mom's cousin. Orson joined the US Navy in, about, 1926 and was a Chief Boatswain Mate and Master Diver in 1939 when he and three other Master Diver's risked their lives to rescue surviving crew of the submarine Squalus from the Atlantic Ocean floor when she sank on her maiden voyage. Orson and the three others were awarded the Medal of Honor for their dangerous rescue dives to the ocean floor.
