About the Dyer surname

My grandfather's name was Thomas Dyer. He was born and raised to a young man in Wales UK. He grew up in a mining town somewhere in Wales. I believe as a young man he boarded a ship to work the mines in Pennsylvania USA but went on to Quebec Canada. He was married I am unsure where my Grandmother was born, whether it was Canada or Wales UK. They had 5 children 3 girls 2 boys.
