About the Pacheco surname

This ancient surname dates back to Roman times cerca 92 BC, from a Roman general named Vivio Pacieco (a descendant of Pro-consul Lucio Viminio Pacieco who served Julius Caesar during the conquest of of what is now Portugal and Spain). It is generally accepted that the Pro-consul settled in this area and that one of the general's descendants, a Don Diego López Pacheco, known as "el grande" was the first bearer of the Pacheco name in Spain.

Don Diego López Pacheco (b. 1456 in Villena, Valencia, Spain-d. 1529 in Escalona, Toledo, Spain) held the following titles:
