COVID-19 Update

As COVID-19 increasingly impacts our day-to-day lives, we would like to update everyone that all is well at Geni and our Los Angeles-based team.

Our top priority is the health and safety of our employees and as of March 12, the entire Geni team has been working from home. We are well suited to work remotely and will be able to continue serving our users without disruption.

We encourage our dedicated team of volunteer curators to prioritize their health and wellbeing during this time. Curators play an important role in the Geni community and work hard to help maintain the historical branches of the World Family Tree for the benefit of us all.

At Geni, we are practicing social distancing to the fullest and encourage our users and the general public to do the same. Social distancing is critical in the global battle against the COVID-19 pandemic. By avoiding public places and minimizing contact and proximity to others, we can help protect those in the community who are most vulnerable and at the highest risk of infection. Together we can “flatten the curve” of infection and prevent the virus from overwhelming healthcare systems and help ensure that anyone who needs medical attention will have access to it. We invite you to read more about the benefits of social distancing, as illustrated through useful simulation in this Washington Post article.

We’re closely following the recommendations and guidelines from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and governmental authorities and urge you to do the same.

Please keep yourselves, your families, and your communities safe. We’ll be here with ideas and suggestions in the realm of family history and genealogy to help you get through these difficult times.

Wishing you all the best of health.

The Geni Team
