D.W. Griffith was a pioneering American film director, credited with developing many of the basic techniques of film making. His most controversial film, The Birth of a Nation, was the highest grossing film of the Silent Era. Griffith’s groundbreaking film made pioneering use of advanced camera and narrative techniques, and set the stage for the dominance of feature length film. How are you related?
