Today, we highlight Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer. Specializing in modern architecture, Niemeyer was a pioneer in exploring the formal possibilities of reinforced concrete solely for their aesthetic impact. In 1988, Niemeyer was awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize, the most prestigious award in architecture, for the Cathedral of Brasília.
