Davis got his start as a small child in his father’s vaudeville act. He learned to dance and soon became a part of the Will Mastin Trio with his father and performer Will Mastin. While serving in the army during World War II, Davis was assigned to an integrated entertainment Special Services unit. Faced with strong racial tensions, Davis used his talent to fight against the prejudice he experienced.

After leaving the army, Davis found success performing in Las Vegas. In 1954, Davis was involved in a serious car accident while driving on a return trip from Vegas to Los Angeles. He lost his left eye in the crash and wore a glass eye for the rest of his life.

In 1959, Davis became a member of the legendary Rat Pack, led by Frank Sinatra. The Pack starred in several movies together including, Ocean’s 11 and Sergeants 3.

Davis died on May 16, 1990 from complications from throat cancer. He was 64.
