The folks at Progeny Genealogy have a product called Charting Companion. It takes the information from your family tree, and allows you to make a wide variety of charts. Available now is a version that will read your data directly from Geni. If you’ve been dying to print out different visual representations of your family tree, this application is for you. It has fan charts, pedigree charts, hourglass charts, and many more.

You can buy this great genealogy charting app for Windows for only $24.95 USD. If you’d prefer to have a hard copy of the software mailed to you, that’s only $29.95 USD plus shipping and handling.

The charts have been a huge hit for Progeny Genealogy.  Founder Pierre Clouthier said, “It’s a great way to show off your research, and share your story with family and colleagues.  Displaying a family tree in chart format makes it more understandable to your family, and will motivate your relatives to get involved and contribute information that will help build the tree further.”

With a wide array of charts available, how can Charting Companion benefit Geni users?  Pierre notes, “When you are working on a vast tree such as Geni, you will be venturing into branches of the family that you will not be familiar with. A chart is like a ‘road map’ that will guide you through unfamiliar territory, eliminate confusion, and reduce errors.  Researchers who are attempting to clean out ‘zombies’ can exchange family trees in PDF format, and use them to discuss and analyze portions of the Big Tree.”

Now that you’ve read the overview, take a look at a few things you can do with this app:
