Over the years, many users have requested the ability to add marriage and divorce\u00a0dates and locations while\u00a0adding new profiles to the family tree. Today we are excited to finally fulfill this request!<\/p>\n

New marriage and divorce sections in the add profile form<\/em><\/p>\n

Previously,\u00a0a\u00a0spouse had to be added to the tree first before marriage or divorce information could be entered.\u00a0After the\u00a0spouse was added, you were required to edit the profile again to update the marriage and\/or divorce information via the Relationship tab. It was a tedious process\u00a0and slowed down work in the tree.<\/p>\n

Now when you add a new spouse to the tree, you will be able to easily add marriage and divorce information right away, saving you valuable time while building the family tree.<\/p>\n

When you add a new spouse to the tree, you will initially see the same add profile form. Choose the correct relationship you want to add from the Relationship dropdown.\u00a0You will also be asked to confirm if the new partner is the parent of any existing children in the tree.<\/p>\n

Scroll down the form to\u00a0see a new section below the “Occupation” field titled “Marriage Date and Location.” If you are adding a spouse,\u00a0you may now enter the marriage date and location immediately.<\/p>\n

If you are adding an ex-spouse, then you will also see additional fields to input the divorce date and location.<\/p>\n

For engaged couples, you will see the option to add a wedding date and location.\u00a0If you later update\u00a0the relationship status to “wife” or “husband,” the label for the wedding date and location will automatically become the marriage date and location.<\/p>\n

If you want to\u00a0edit\u00a0the marriage\/divorce information in the tree later, you\u00a0may still find it by clicking\u00a0on the\u00a0edit icon in the tree or “Edit” in the side panel and select the Relationships tab.<\/p>\n
