This weekend the movie,\u00a0A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood,<\/i>\u00a0hits theaters nationwide. The film stars Tom Hanks<\/a> as Fred Rogers<\/a>, the host of the beloved children’s television show\u00a0Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood<\/em>. The film was inspired by the 1998 article “Can You Say…Hero?” by Tom Junod for\u00a0Esquire<\/em>. The film follows\u00a0journalist Lloyd Vogel, who is assigned to profile the television icon for Esquire<\/em>\u00a0magazine. Recently on the red carpet, Hanks learned of his own personal connection to Rogers –\u00a0they are 6th cousins<\/a>! Their common ancestor is\u00a0Johannes Mefford, who served in the American Revolutionary War.<\/p>\n

November 22 also marks the 24th anniversary of the\u00a0release of\u00a0Toy Story<\/em>. The\u00a0groundbreaking computer animated film\u00a0starred Hanks as Woody and Tim Allen<\/a> as Buzz Lightyear.\u00a0The massively successful and critically acclaimed film spawned three\u00a0sequels and was inducted into the National Film Registry for being culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant in 2005. Not only do Woody and Buzz have a friend in each other, but they are also family – 17th cousins<\/a> to be exact.<\/p>\n
