The Knol project is a site that hosts many knols \u2014 units of knowledge \u2014<br \/>\nwritten about various subjects. The authors of the knols can take<br \/>\ncredit for their writing, provide credentials, and elicit peer reviews<br \/>\nand comments. Users can provide feedback, comments, related<br \/>\ninformation. So the Knol project is a platform for sharing information,<br \/>\nwith multiple cues that help you evaluate the quality and veracity of<br \/>\ninformation.<\/p>\n<p>At Geni, we are constantly reading Genealogy related blogs and articles in attempt to stay up to date with the latest genealogy news and requests so that we can improve our product by offering the tools that people need to conduct and share genealogy research. Last week we came across <a href=\"http:\/\/www.genealogyreviewsonline.com\/genealogy_reviews_online\/2008\/07\/google-knol.html\">this blog<\/a> which pointed out the fact that nobody had yet created a Genealogy Knol. Therefore, we decided that since genealogy is the third most popular hobby in the world we should create one.
