You can add your own custom groups to these predefined groups we have created for you:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>My Immediate Family<\/em> \u2013 Your current spouse or partner and your parents, siblings, and children<\/li>\n<li><em>My Family<\/em> \u2013 Your third cousins and closer and their current partners and your current partner&#8217;s second cousins and closer and their current partners<\/li>\n<li><em>My Friends<\/em> \u2013 All of your Family Friends<\/li>\n<li><em>Immediate Family of\u2026<\/em> &#8211; The person you select and their parents, siblings, and children<\/li>\n<li><em>Descendants of\u2026<\/em> &#8211; The person you select and their direct descendants<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Messaging users outside your tree<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve added the ability to send messages to users outside of your tree. This feature is a great way to collaborate with other Geni users who share your research interests and to connect with potential family members.&nbsp; Look for \u2018Send Message\u2019 links on search results outside your tree.<\/p>\n<p>If you would like users outside of your tree to have the ability to send you a message, make sure you have checked the \u2018&quot;Send Message to Me&quot; button\u2019 checkboxes in the \u2018<a href=\"http:\/\/wiki.geni.com\/index.php\/Search_Privacy\">Search Privacy<\/a>\u2019 section on your settings page.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/forum.geni.com\/topic.php?id=1569\">Discuss this story<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Group Messaging Now you can send a message to groups of your family and friends on Geni.
