If you are looking at U.S. records after 1906, these papers will contain more valuable genealogical information, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Name<\/li>\n<li>Date of birth<\/li>\n<li>Occupation<\/li>\n<li>Address<\/li>\n<li>Country emigrated<\/li>\n<li>Nationality<\/li>\n<li>Marital status \u2013 in later records, the name of the spouse was also included<\/li>\n<li>Port of entry and name of ship<\/li>\n<li>Picture of applicant<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Petitions<\/h3>\n<p>Also referred to as \u201cSecond Papers,\u201d the petition is filed after serving the required period of residency in the country. These papers are filed with the court and the information found may vary between different courts. Generally, these papers contain similar information as the Declaration of Intentions. In more recent petitions, you may find more information about your ancestor\u2019s spouse and children. Witness affidavits may also be found and include their names, occupation and place of residence.<\/p>\n<h3>Naturalization Certificate<\/h3>\n<p>Once the requirements were completed, your ancestor would receive a naturalization certificate. This document will contain the date which your ancestor was granted citizenship and will often contain similar information found in the Declaration of Intentions and Petition.<\/p>\n<h3>Where can I find naturalization records?<\/h3>\n<p>For U.S. naturalization records prior to 1906, you may check the county courts of where your ancestor may have petitioned. For records after 1906, you can check out the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.archives.gov\/research\/naturalization\/index.html\">National Archives<\/a>.
