We just released a number of enhancements to Geni:<\/p>\n
Speed Improvements:<\/strong><\/p>\n We have made a number of changes focused on increasing the speed and performance of your Geni experience. Many of our users, especially those with large trees, should notice improved performance right away. Here are some of the changes we\u2019ve made to make Geni faster.\n<\/p>\n Tree View Display Change<\/em> – When you view your tree you will now see ten generations of ancestors displayed\u2014if you\u2019d like to see more click the \u201cView All\u201d link. <\/p>\n One reason for this change is that larger trees take longer to load\u2014prior to this change we had to first calculate the number displayed on each \u2018little green tree\u2019. With this change we load your tree first, and then fill in those numbers\u2014this change significantly speeds up the Tree display.<\/p>\n Profile View Change <\/em>– Profiles of some distant relatives took time to load because of the \u2018Relationship Pathway\u2019. Now the profile loads first and then we load the relationship pathway. This means you do not need to wait for the longer relationship pathway to load before viewing or acting on the profile.<\/p>\n You may notice a few other minor changes we have made to accommodate these changes. For example, the \u2018Blood Relatives\u2019 count has been replaced by \u2018Ancestors\u2019 and \u2018Descendants\u2019 in \u2018User Statistics\u2019. Also the list view no longer has a \u2018Blood Relatives\u2019 option, but we have added an \u2018Include Deceased\u2019 checkbox.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Search Privacy Improvements:<\/strong><\/p>\n Now you have control over the search privacy for every node you add or have added to your Geni tree. You can set the privacy for all nodes you have added in your Search Privacy settings. There are settings for your profile, for deceased profiles you have added, and for living profiles you have added. For additional control, you can enable or disable search privacy for each individual profile you have added. On the \u2018Edit Profile\u2019 page of any person you have added you will see a new \u2018Searchable by the public\u2019 checkbox you can use to change their public search setting.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Photo Album Changes:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2018My Family\u2019s Albums\u2019 and \u2018My Family Friends\u2019 Albums\u2019 have been combined into the new \u2018Recent Albums\u2019 sub-tab. Here\u2019s where you\u2019ll find all recent albums created by you, your family, and your friends.\n<\/p>\n We have also added some additional information when you are viewing a photo album – at the top of every album you will now see a list of each person tagged in that album as well as the album description.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Messaging Improvements:<\/strong><\/p>\n We\u2019ve given you more options on how you can respond to Inbox messages. You can select Reply All, Reply, or Forward messages you receive in your Inbox.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n \u201cMy Family\u201d Group There is a new List View called \u201cMy Family\u201d. This is the subset of people in your tree whose birthdays and anniversaries appear in your Calendar, whose locations appear on your Map, and whose Recent Albums you see under the Photos tab. Initially, we have defined this group as your third cousins and closer, plus their current partners, and your own partner\u2019s first cousins and closer, plus their current partners. Coming soon, we will let you define your My Family group.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n New Fianc\u00e9 Partner Option:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2018Fianc\u00e9\u2019 has been added to our list of partner types.
