Before Geni introduced documents<\/a>, users were able to upload records, such as census records or passenger lists,\u00a0as photos. Now years later, many people are still not aware that you can convert those old photos into documents. By converting these types of photos into documents, you make these records\u00a0even more useful in your family tree. Once the image is made into a document, you can use them as sources for your family’s profiles<\/a>. For each profile fact, you can cite the\u00a0document the information\u00a0was found and thus, help\u00a0improve the quality of the World Family Tree<\/a> on Geni.<\/p>\n

To begin converting your photos to documents, simply follow the\u00a0steps below:<\/p>\n

1.<\/strong>\u00a0Under Family at the top of the page, click\u00a0Photos<\/a>\u00a0and select the photo album where the image you want to convert is located.<\/p>\n

2.<\/strong> Next\u00a0click “Organize this album”<\/p>\n

\"Geni<\/a><\/p>\n

3.<\/strong> In your photo\u00a0organizer, select\u00a0the image\u00a0you would like to convert into a document and then\u00a0click the “Make Document” button.
\n<\/a><\/p>\n

Note: Keep in mind this action is not reversible, so make\u00a0sure you have selected the correct image!<\/p>\n

4.<\/strong> Now you can put that record\u00a0to better use as a document on\u00a0your relative’s profile!<\/p>\n
