If you want to build the family tree for a person not yet on Geni and you don&#8217;t know how the person is\u00a0related, you can now easily start an unconnected\u00a0branch of the tree and work towards\u00a0finding its\u00a0connection to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geni.com\/worldfamilytree\" target=\"_blank\">World Family Tree<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There are many times when you may have information about a person or family, but do not\u00a0yet know how they are connected to the existing family tree on Geni. You will see\u00a0that\u00a0the page is similar to the form for adding new relatives\u00a0in the tree. You can continue adding profiles\u00a0to build out the tree until\u00a0you or others finally discover how this branch\u00a0connects to the World Family Tree.<\/p>\n<p>To locate this branch again, type the person&#8217;s\u00a0name into the Search box or browse\u00a0the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geni.com\/list\/following\" target=\"_blank\">list of profiles you follow.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>A word of caution:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you already know where a person belongs in the tree, you should\u00a0go back to the tree and add them onto one of the existing profiles.<\/p>\n<p>Before creating a new branch, you should always\u00a0do a quick <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geni.com\/search\/advanced\" target=\"_blank\">search<\/a> to make sure the profile has\u00a0not been added to\u00a0Geni. Keep in mind\u00a0that\u00a0adding\u00a0duplicates of existing profiles creates more work for you, your collaborators and Geni curators.\u00a0Valuable time will then need to be spent\u00a0merging all the new duplicates instead of\u00a0working to\u00a0 improve\u00a0and expand\u00a0the World Family Tree.
