Recently found out from a relative that one of our ancestors, Edward Winfield, was the Great-uncle of Edward Maria Winfield who help to found the first permanent English colony, Jamestown.

Upon checking this information I have found an Edward Maria Wingfield who was a founder of Jamestown. Is it possible the name has been misspelled over the centuries? Very possible.
