The information what I have got is as under:
1. My brother Santokh Singh served in Indian Air Force - Correct.
2. My grand father Hazara Singh served in British Indian Army, retired
after world war I.
3. My great grand father Budha Singh had served in Maharaja
Ranjit Singh's army, he died in 1894 while his wife died in 1891.
4. Our Maternal Grand father Chanda Singh served in British
Indian Army and retired after WW I.
5. Our uncle Chanda Singh's eldest son Arjan Singh Mann
served in British Indian Army and retired as Major in 1951?
Thanks for asking me this.
Sat Sri Akal Swaran Singh Ji.
I am so pleased that you responded.
Would you have a picture of your brother, Santokh Singh in uniform? If you don't want it on Geni, perhaps you could send to my e-mail address, for my personal collection.
Also, what years would Santokh Singh have been in the Air Force? Did he ever see active duty?
As for Arjan Singh Mann ... I think his grandsons, one of the Mann's should be asked directly. Gurmeet singh would be a good bet. Gurmeet's brother, is presently in the Army in India.. - I think 1951 is too early for his retirement. - but I have no idea.
Chanda Singh (1870 - 1955) was in the army. He was a non-commissioned officer, serving as a Quarter Master in China, during WWI. - I do not have a picture of Chanda Singh in uniform, but I have a lovely picture of a colleague of his, showing the uniform in great detail. - I think that our grandchildren should be shown these things, so that they can become acquainted with family history.
I have deleted my first post, inviting people to work on a military history in our family.
This is a great project, and I am happy to kickstart it.
However, some people may not wish to be included for valid reasons.
I apologise profoundly, and must say that it was never my intention to offend anyone.
I have run into this problem before, and should have known better.
In the future, I shall contact individuals first, before mentioning their names.
I still believe that this would be an amazing project to work on collectively, and would invite anybody who is interested to contribute as much as they can.
If, you happen to have concerns about Geni or the Internet, I would still like to get your information.
