Woman Fatally Trampled on Subway Platform
Sheepshead Bay police are investigating the death of Mrs.
Ida GODWIN, 20, of 1714 Mermaid avenue, Coney Island, who
died in Jewish Hospital Friday as a result of injuries she
sustained Thursday night when she was trampled by a crowd
at the Sheepshead Bay station of the Brighton Beach line.
Mrs. GODWIN, who was the wife of Charles GODWIN, an employe
of Steeplechase Park, was coming home from Manhattan, where
she worked as a manicure. She was getting off at the
Sheepshead Bay station to see her brother in his garage in
the neighborhood, when she was knocked down in the rush of
passengers. Dr. Abraham LEVINE, of Seagate took her to
Jewish Hospital where it was found she had suffered a
rupture of the spleen.
