@I am at my wits end. I have been trying to track down the parents of Swain Hicks and Mary Hicks. I have found a Census from 1900 listing them and Son John Hicks. Swain was a member of the 21st Regiment (Volunteers from Missouri) during the civil war. Found his enlistment paperwork and a few photos. But, coming up blank on anything else. John impregnated a Native american girl supposedly named Clementine Pinegar, (I think her name was Mary "c" Pinegar) Swain and Mary disowned John and Clementine giving birth to my Grandfather Alfred Marion Hicks in 1902. John (Alfred's) father died when Alfred was young and the Pinegar's raised him. John died of some type of T.B., that's it...that is all I know. Rumor has it Swain and Mary moved on to the Poplar Bluff MO. area. Desperate to go back further from Swain and Mary. Swain was born in 1839 in Illinois and his folks were from Tennessee.
