Of course not...my I have seen some stuff floating around, begining to think folks are high when they post stuff...I am not kidding...I have researched this line for over 35 years...after the Battle of Glen Fruin in 1603 the very name MacGregor was outlawed...one male adopted the name MacFarlane...form this one man there are approx 9 lines that are his deces., at least 3 are int he USA (this is all proved by DNA). crzypopmac@aol.com
Since 2011 DNA has come a long way, we are still not related to the Macfarlane Chief nor are we directly related to to Macgregor Chief, the McFarland lines here in the US ( related by DNA) are Daniel McFarland died 1738 Worcester, Duncan McFarland wife Ann/Elizabeth Porter ( and his deces in the Valley of virginia, including those in Orange county NC, related to William McFarland, poss wife Keziah). New DNA work now links John McFarland of Boothbay maine to these families crzypopmac@aol.com
More...the signature DNA SNP of Daniel McFarland, my line, and Duncan Mcfarland ( Valley of Virginia, with bleed over in Tn,Ky, and Orange co NC) along with John McFarland of Boothbay maine, is S764 (and several SNPs below that which include the many variant spellings of the name)...the SNP S764 is a DNA descendant of S744....both S764 and S691 (Macgregor) are descendants of S744...FTDNA can be pretty vague but I am guessing the split happened ca 300-400 YBP considerably before the invention of surnames.
