I note there are a few trees on here with my ancestors named as Dive/Davies, Dyve/Davies, Dive/Davis, or Dyve/Davis. I would like to make it clear there are no Davies or Davis in my Dyve or Dive lineage. I strongly object to anyone hijacking my ancestors for whatever reason. Terence Dive.

My Dyve family lived at Bromham in Bedforshire for many centuries and I believe this is where some of you davis or Davies family's have got confused linking your family to mine.
Most of you can trace your ancestors to Acton Turville which is now in South Gloucestershire, there is a Bromham in Wiltshire which is only 17 miles from Acton Turville see this link:

There are Davis or Davies family's recorded in both village's please check your research as there is no link between the Davis and my Dyve family's. As I have pointed out before Davis or Davies is a Welsh name meaning son of David, Dyve or Dive is Norman.

i dont think your ancestors are being "hijacked" by anyone. There is sufficient research out there to verify that the dyves of bedfordshire,'s name changed over the centuries. I am a davis from yorkshire born 1951 and i have researched my family for years and all roads lead to dyves from staffordshire, warwickshire and gloucestershire and before then to Before and Northamptonshire as far as 1066. i have checked and rechecked and the information i have found still checks out. The dyve/dive ancestery is huge so its highly likely that yours and my lines are not from the same dyve parentage. i have not been able to tie my line down to dive-sur-mer completely to my satisfaction so as far as im concerned my ancestry began just after 1066. unless more information comes to light.

a lot of my research came from the family bible which i inherited many years ago, where births marriages and deaths were recordecd back 400 years.
