William Bartlett b 3 Jan 1786
Birth of Robert is 13 Oct 1793
Please delete: Cynthia - there was no such daughter in the Bible
I'd be interested in ANY record that shows John Bartlett's middle name as Berkley or Berkeley. There was a BERKELEY family in neighboring Loudon Co, VA, while the BARTLETTs lived near the county border; and that BERKELEY family came from Westmoreland Co, VA, very close to the BARTLETT plantation in Richmond Co, VA (but William probably never lived in Richmond/Westmoreland Co, area). I ask because we are still looking for the maiden names of William's mother and paternal grandmother... Just a few years before John was born, his uncle (and probable namesake) John B BARTLETT b 1760 married Anne BARKLEY...
NOTE: William and Sarah were probably married in 1775 - Sarah was 15 when she became pregnant with Nancy b 5 Sep 1775; and I believe William and Sarah eloped when they determined she was pregnant. The BARTLETT and HATHAWAY farms were adjacent in Fauquier Co... Pointedly, there is no marriage date in the bible that has all the children's births...
William's son, Robert, is on FindaGrave with a different date of birth- Sept 16, 1795. Are you saying that is incorrect and should be changed to Oct 13, 1793?
My mistake - I used Benjamin's date. You are correct. Here is the whole Family Bible extract:
William BARTLETT Family Bible: William b4-4-1756, Sarah b11-12-1759; ch: Nancy b9-5-1775; Thomas b10-8-1777; Eppy b5-1-1779; Elizabeth b1-14-1781; Sarah b9-15-1782; John b2-23-1784; William b1-3-1786; James b9-6-1787; Susannah b1-1-1790; Doratha b12-16-1791; Benjamin b10-13-1793; Robert b9-19-1795; Josiah b5-29-1797; George b2-27-1799; Sarah b11-8-1804; Elizabeth d8-1786; Sarah d9-1786; Susanna d1-17-1802; Nancy POWELL d10-1808; George d3-7-1799; William d11-21-1814; William Sr d10-12-1825; Sarah d8-17-1831. Bible - in possession of F. Dorsey BARTLETT.
Incidently - Robert's Find-A-Grave tombstone does not have a birth date; and in any case a tombstone has info on birth many years later. A Bible record is usually a better source (if I had copied it correctly)
Another mystery solved. I also found a large old family bible with many entries in it when I cleaned out my father's (and great grandparents') home in WV last year! That's what started this whole Geni adventure...a place to enter the info I inherited. I still haven't found all the Frums, but I'm enjoying the search.
