Very interesting, Alex.
In fact, I remember that we discussed this quite a while ago somewhere on Geni discussion (probably in the Portaal). We didn't come up with this software corruption, but I think the plausible suggestion we had was that Reusel De Mierden might have been a sort of a 'neutral' place through which emigrants went before emigrating overseas. That was probably just a thought, and I haven't researched it myself. True enough, I've seen it quite a number of times and it simply made us wonder :-)

I caught on when i was looking at a family where half the people were born in Noord-Brabant and half in Groningen, it just seemed an unlikely situation in a pre-industrial world.

Thank you Alex for sharing the article.

I uploaded it to this project

There's a similar error for the location Y in France.

I've spammed Geni a little bit in hope of as many people as possible seeing the link :)

just another reason to always check and double check information you find and use, be it from an archive or library, offline or online publication.

They say you need to have at least three agreeing references before you can consider it written in stone.

And lol Alex Moes I thought you were just spamming because you wanted to cause trouble ha ha

Here's the article I was reminded of:

Y, Somme, Picardie, France...SERIOUSLY?

FYI, I checked the Dutch Wikipedia page on Reusel. It says that the village was destroyed in 1580 as a consequence of the religious conflicts of the 80 Years' War - and that it was totally abandoned "for some time". It then mentions that one (reformed) church there started to come back in use after 1648. A catholic one only started operating again in 1672.
Hence, quite safe to assume that nobody was born in Reusel between 1580-1648, given that there were no inhabitants, no church and thus NO baptism records! That should settle it, I would think :-)

i NEED TO FIND PARENTS OF HENRY HALL BORN1836 REUSEL-DE-MIERDEN, NOORD - BRABAN hE WAS LISTED IN 1870 CENSUS FOR JACKSON MINNESOTA USA. LAKE DAKOTA TERRITORY AS BORN IN HOLLAND..

Donna Boggs, typing messages all in capitals is universally recognized on the internet as being equivalent to shouting.
Before you start shouting at people "so-and-so was born in Reusel-De Mierden" I suggest you read this discussion through, including the hyperlink in the very first post.

Sorry no shouting. Recently had eye surgery and eyes were strained and all caps was clearly seen for these old eyes no offense Intended

When i don't have my glasses on i use my computer's zoom function.

Have you made a profile on Geni for Henry Hall?
Is he listed with his parents or some siblings in the 1870 census?
Henry Hall is a very un-Dutch sounding name and a quick search of the main online archive of the Netherlands produces no results for that name between 1830 - 1840
