Good evening,
I just joined this project after discovering that my paternal lineage is R-M167. My oldest known ancestor is Antonio Sandoval from Villamar, Michoacan, Mexico. I do not know where he was born or his birth year, but his son - my great- grandfather Genaro Sandoval - was born 1885 in Villamar. I would love to learn more about my family beyond Antonio.
Thank you,
Stephanie
Oldest know paternal ancestor was Sebastian de Estrada, born circa 1675 (not sure where) but his son Blas de Estrada was born in 1702 in San Martin, Guatemala and in the margins of the baptismal records, these Estrada's are denoted as "Españoles." There is a barrio and Tower for an Estrada Lin along the northern coast of Spain in/near the Basque region. I would love to know more people with the paternal halpogroup RM 167 who may know more about this connection. I have been unable to verify if Sebastian came directly from Spain or if he was first in Mexico and migrated. Thank you.
The oldest paternal ancestor that I know is my great-grandfather called Miguel Granadino. I don't have exact dates, but he died before the end of Spanish Civil War. He was from a village called Villalba, near Madrid (Spain). His son (my grandfather) was born in Cuatro Caminos, in that time another village near Madrid but now is a district of Madrid.
Our surname, "Granadino" means "from Granada", which is a city at the south of Spain. I would like to know more about this branch of my family, specially since I can't speak about it with my grandfather because he has dementia.
