"From Jeff Wright, Wright DNA Project - "The best theory is that he was 1738 Philbert Wright -- this is based on circumstantial evidence of time and place. The same results could occur if some or all of these lines descend from a brother, uncle, or father of 1738 Philbert. But, given no evidence has been found to put forth an alternative theory, then the remaining LIKELY ANCESTOR was Philbert. This is PROOF "within reasonable certainty", NOT proof 'beyond all doubt"........ I have updated my diagram of this family which can be found at: http://www.wright-dna.org/trees/1784RichardWright201008.pdf ....... Until the time comes that other evidence alters this theory, it's the best working theory we have."
(BTW, Jeff''s PDF has since been updated at http://www.wright-dna.org/trees/1784RichardWright201203.pdf)
"Information cited is based upon the legal principle of preponderance of the evidence – meaning that if definitive proof documents could not be located, and if all evidence pointed in the right direction, then a lineage or relationship was accepted as true. In this case, the DNA from Richard, Sr. to Philbert Wright 1719 [d.o.b.] to Joshua Wright [abt 1777] was used to make the link back to #1 Philbert Wright and Esther Becraft........ [this would be inclusive of PW1719's son, Philbert] "
In addition to the Wright DNA page, there is also FTDNA's Wright project, located at this link, and currently groups Richard with Philburd. https://www.familytreedna.com/public/wright/default.aspx?section=yr...
