starting a new tree

How does one start a new tree on here?

I want to do a friends tree but don't know how to go about it with only the basic geni.

You have to "bud" the profile(s) off your existing tree. You can do this by creating a "sister" or "brother" profile with the names and information you want, then detach them from their fictitious "parents" and add their correct relatives.

Not as a basic user, - Roxanne have to ask a Pro user or a Curator to disconnect the new root. Remember to bookmark the profile to find it again.

If you added her for the process discussed here - please be aware that is no longer how one should create a new tree.
Instead go to Research and choose "Create a Branch"

J Birchenough because this is a private profile, it may be easier for you to delete it and recreate her using https://www.geni.com/family-tree/create_branch.
