Any info would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Who is the parents of this Archibald Lewis (1813-1895) and how is this known. Lewis is my dads line. I would love to try to get past this steel wall. I dont get to travel to research. I can only look online and am nigh on to giving up.

Hi cousin, I too have growled and grunted at this edifice of frustration. My grandma was Nancy Ellen Lewis/Peter-Tom Lewis/Archibald Lewis. My sisters have solved the problem by adopting the Archibald Sloan Lewis line. That would be nice, but he, although born in the same year, is buried in North Carolina whereas our Arch Lewis is buried in Tenn. I have spent weeks on speculations but to no avail. Are you related to Jess Lewis in Manchester, TN? Keep in touch.

Just a correction: my Grandmother's name was Nancy Ellenor Lewis 1869-1959. Her body is buried in Roy, WA, next to that of her husband Rev. James E. Estep. Roy was where she last resided on this earth

You can try doing a DNA like I have. It may solve the question.

I did the DNA. And am still just as stumped as before. I will keep looking.

Patti, if you could load your "DNA results onto gedmatch.com then we could compare our results. That would be a start. I did correspond with some on the supposed Arch Lewis grave in NC and they said many names and bodies are not documented as being buried there, that is, according to them there is no Arch Lewis grave there. I am not certain if that helps us, but does possibly clarify some things. Hope your day is bright. Howard

My DNA results are already on gedmatch and have been for some time. And Archibald Lewis is still my brickwall and probably will remain so.

This Archibald Lewis and I am going to go a limb and say Archibald Daniel Lewis Sr, because many times I have seen both Archibald Lewis as Sr, and then his son Archie Daniel Lewis, Jr. Sr however, is still a brick wall. I did the DNA, it really didn't help. Until I have proof, he will continue to be my brick wall on the ancestry.com site. That's the only one I pay for and do all my documenting, other than on paper.
