Both parties have at least 10,000 descendants and an equal number of blood relatives. At a glance they look very similar, but there are discrepancies.

@ Debra Denman

An I correct in seeing that the key discrepancy between the two 'merge comparison' listings for Caroline (one of which is on a tree which has been isolated) is the identity of her husband? The comparison provides two different names - Sir John Smythe and John Carrington Smyth(e).

The following link may be of interest/help: carrington%20smythe.html

Has anyone reached out to the tree owner, it seems he only joined Geni recently .....

Private User your interest is most appreciated, although I must let you know that your link is broken (might like to try again). I'm not familiar with this branch, although she's supposedly my 18th g-grandmother through one of my paternal Welsh lines. It's too big a job for me to assess without consultation, besides being Medieval. I haven't enough experience to make the decision whether to remove the match or try to merge it. Often seemingly simple merges can quickly become extremely complicated.

Private User I see now that it has already been settled by a curator. Again, I appreciate your interest in solving the problem.

@Erica Howton...thanks for reposting the link I added yesterday, it didn't highlight correctly. (Sorry, Debra!)

Following up on your cautionary note, I've located several sites that reference discussions on the Carrington Smith/Smythe issue, and especially note the Geni discussion which you started...

I'm guessing this is what you were referring to.......

Thank you for the alert on this issue.

I have not purposely tried to merge anyone into a medieval tree.

6/15/2021 at 9:55 AM

there is no easy way to explain the obvious:

USER 2008 Don Mario Gregorio
[this ? ] to which myriads of medieval conflicts / lightness have been resolved here on GENI, in which he has never participated with even a word in any discussion to resolve his data uploaded and abandoned.. it can be assumed that it has a 20k + profiles GEDCOM

from these 2 DUP sisters now we can deduce that he uploaded it 2 more times:
-[October 2019] Violante Spadafora
-[June 2021] Violante Spadafora

He has again new duplication conflicts obviously scattered everywhere going up the Italian Middle Ages, even in his family, starting immediately above the grandparents & even in first degree relatives..

now it is obvious that either he has never been able to understand how the Big Shared World Tree of GENI works.. (or he does it on purpose!?)

If he doesn't even respond to this last serious very important last appeal public.. can you please STOP him from doing other uploads & merges!?

Mario check your -

Livio Scremin - Geni is working on these uploads. I’ll double check their progress.

Margaret Lindsey
Margaret Mure

(Maybe we don't need to worry about this one? I see that "These profiles cannot be merged because one of them is in a tree that has been marked isolated.")

James Austen of Goudhurst

has two fathers -

1. John Austin of Stamford

2, John Austen of Goudhurst

think it was this last merge that may have brought the extra John in.... ?

Please assist,

I noticed when I was about to upload source documentation.

Thank you

Erica Howton;

Were you able to find out what sort of progress Geni is making regarding the Gedcom downloads done by Mario? I see some progress, but very slowly. At it's peak I had 676 profiles that I manage reporting tree matches and 851 that I follow. Those numbers, are slowly decreasing and now stand at 485 and 565 respectively.

However, everyday Geni finds additional tree matches. Today a bunch of tree matches were found on profiles loaded on May 21st.

Does Geni realize that there there were likely more than just one Gedcom download at issue?

Any information would be appreciated.

Bernard Joseph Albanese & Livio Scremin - updated Geni with the additional info from discussion. My thanks for keeping the eye on.

6/19/2021 at 5:55 PM

6/19/2021 at 6:01 PM

We've had massive, bizarre GEDCOM attacks recently, spewing disinformation all over the tree from way back before they *should* have been allowed to upload down to the present. Apparently the "safeguards" against this happening all failed simultaneously, and as a result there is a hideous cleanup job that will take months - or years.
