Just started a project to try to gather people together with Dalraida DNA. I was very surprised to find my family is in this category. My maiden name is Crawford. The family was from Argyll (Strathlachlan and Kilfinan as far as we've been able to trace). Hoping for others to join.

Hello, I am also descended from the Dal Riada - on both mother and father's side, but I don't have my father's DNA. My mother's DNA line shows the Hebrides and then later Ayr in Scotland, my father's family is from Antrim, No Ireland.

Hi Janet, thanks for starting this group! I was wondering if you've defined for folks that would like to join what constitutes "Dalraida DNA"? Is this based on surname origin, YDNA, MtDna? A mix of all that? Just wondering as I think it will help facilitate discussion. My connection is through surname and YDNA so I love that I can discuss with others as my Surname was a NPE and we just recently discovered our true paternal line (McCutcheon)

My nephew's DNA matches Colla Uais almost exactly. I can't get my Crawfords back past 1742 but just looked at Áedán mac Gabráin, Rí na Dál Riata again and he is my 41st great grandfather through my paternal grandmother's line!

If any of you want to do a comparison with me, feel free... my line extends back to Crinan The Thane directly from an unbroken male line. My focus of study now is Crinan's ancestors. It is said they come from the royal line of Irish Kings.. well, I'd like to find that out for sure.
