I've received inquiries regarding this. All I know is the family moved from Collection, SC into the Applying County area, which was later changed to Wayne County, Georgia. My 3x-ggmother was Nancy E. Hires who married Jacob Roberson and was buried in Old Bethel Church Cemetery, which is located outside Jesus, Wayne county, GA. Applying was split into 3 counties, but Jesup, Wayne county, is the seat of Wayne county. Other counties to look may be in Pearce county and Barley, Georgia. The Pastor at old Bethel Church in Jesup, Ga may be able to tell you if Catherine Hiers' is buried in their cemetery. Call the church and leave a message of inquiry. They will return calls if info is known.
There are some Hires buried in Odum Cemetery outside Jesup, GA. Eugene Hires was buried there several yrs back. He has living relatives residing in Jesup, Ga. Gene Hires was my 3rd g-g'mothers' cousin. His mother was a Carter before marrying Seymore Hires. They are part of the same line.
