Some time in the past the Apperson family was told that they are descendants of the Duke of Epernon. The story is the son married Elizabeth Beard and fled to America. Historical records show him go back to Framce.
The Appersons probably got there name from the name of the town of Eperstone in Northamptonshire in England.
CURATOR NOTE: … .there is no trace of any relationship of Bernard de Nogaret de La Valette, d'Epernon to an Antoinete de Faudoas, nor of any offspring that emigrated to America.
Disconnected John Epperson, Sr. from false parents & disproven wife Elizabeth Beard

The entire "French Connection" is a work of fiction. Antoinette Alice Faudoas is a fictional character who only exists in supposed Apperson and Epperson genealogies, and not in the works of the Duke's own biographers, who should have been counted on to mention things like existence of wives. Checking out the origin reveals these claims did not exist prior to the 1900s printed genealogies, which have as their source "grandpa's fireside tales". Furthermore, no evidence has ever surfaced to demonstrate that ANY of these people with similar names are the identical people.
Anyone who is interested in the REAL and ACTUAL ancestry of this family will be better served ignoring the French Connection, and stop with St. Peter's Parish until a real and actual document that predates it can be produced.
