As I stumbled upon a will with a Matthew Wildman as a beneficiary, I record its text here:
This Matthew WIldman of Selside had four children. He cannot be the son of Matthew Wildman as that Matthew was too young to have had any children then.

Selside is 8 miles due north of Settle and a good ways from the Lowgill area Tatham Parish where we find later Matthew Wildman:
Matthew Wildman of Croasdale Grains and of course so much older than Matthew Wildman

For my own purposes, this Mathew of Selside is a bit of an enigma. I wonder if I will be able to connect him to brothers and cousins to see
whether he is closely realted to the other two Matthews mentioned.

Vol. II page 140 1675
Matthew Wildman, of Celside in the Parish of Horton in {Ribblesdale}√, was prosecuted in
the Ecclesiastical Court, at the suit of Thomas Watson, Impropriator for Tithes, and
by a Writ de Ex communicato capiendo was committed to prison on the 12th of the
Third month.(1675)

A this year is 1675 we might guess that the Matthew imprisoned is a son of Mathew Wildman of Selside named in the Will..

The full text of the above reads:

Matthew VVildman of Celside, in the parish of Horton in Craven, and County of York Husbandman sued in the same Court by Thomas VVilson of Becrofthat, in the parish afore-said Impropriator, for Substraction of Tythe, and for his Con∣tumacy in not appearing to Citation, was decreed excommu∣nicate by H. VV. Chancellor, and a Writ sued out by Thomas Holms Procter, and attached by Robert Banks of Giglesweek Yeoman and Appariter, and committed the 12th of the 3d Moneth, 75. where he yet remains.

speculation: totally hypothetical

Horton-in-Craven
Christopher Wildman baptizes "Matthew, OC" in 1611
While Chris' brother Matthew (or cousin, or uncle) has four sons as is seen in the 1621 will of Richard Armistead. One of these sons is named Matthew as well. We will call him "Matthew, OM"

Matthew, OC goes on to marry Elizabeth Wildman, Quaker Martyr

Matthew, OM goes to prison after being excommunicated like his cousin Matthew , OC's wife Elizabeth...

Seems plausible to me...
