Ines de Castaneda is not Guiomar's mother. Her mother is Catalina de Aviles and she had a brother named Alonso de Manuel who was also the son of Don Juan Manuel. The mother of both Alonso and Guiomar is Catalina. I have documentation to verify that fact.

Hi! I didn't find on Google and Google Books about that. Please post your sources.

You will find the info located in a family tree that was written by Luis de Salazar y Castro in the Royal Academy of History. I found the tree under Infante Manuel. It lists all his children and their mothers. Catalina is listed as the mother of both Alonso and Guiomar.

The salazar y castro collection is in the Royal Academy of HIstory in spain. It consists of nearly 79,000 documents. Luis de Salazar chronicled every noble family in Spain.

I think there's something *radically wrong* with this profile - it has MALE names but is defined as "female".

"Guiomar" is a man's name and has never been anything but a man's name.
"Manuel", ditto and double ditto.

What's going on here?

(The whole section appears to be a horrible mess.)

Was she actually, perhaps, "Unnamed daughter of"? That would make more sense than the current transgender situation.

Private User Guiomar is a female first name... Manuel is a spanish surname that came from a spanish prince Manuel.

Everywhere but Spain, it's masculine. Especially in France.

Guiomar is a Spanish female name and it's not only in Spain but in Latin America, and some other countries in Africa that speak Spanish, so that means 23 Spanish speaking countries know it as a female name. And Felipe is right she has her father's last name like all his children did. Henry II of Castile married her half sister Juana Manuel.
