This man appears to have a set of children who do not belong to him, and possibly an extra wife. I don't know this family well enough to clean it up, so I'm hoping that one of you with better knowledge can sort the children and find them the correct parents. I suspect he has been mismerged into a separate William Poole at some point.
There has been--and continues to be--much confusion concerning two William Poole's who lived in Spartanburg County SC during the same time period. In fact, the confusion apparently existed during their lifetime as evidenced by court documents notating their trades to distinguish them, i.e., William Poole (tailor) or William Poole (ironmaster). To add to the confusion, both men owned property on the Pacolet River. There was also a William "Joiner" Poole, just to complicate matters further.
I cannot speak to the parentage or nativity of the other two gentlemen, but there is no evidence that I am aware of that William "Tailor" Poole (from whom I am descended) ever lived in Grayson County VA, nor has documentation been found denoting his parentage, though a family diary exists suggesting he was born in England.
By most creditable accounts, William "Tailor" Poole was married to Elizabeth Stovall and their children where: James, Anna, George, Stovall G., Judith, Elizabeth, William Abijah, Dorcas Abigail, Mary Ann "Morgan", John, Sarah, Susannah Jane, and Benjamin (my 3rd g-grandfather). Benjamin is often confused with John Benjamin Poole who was Benjamin's grandson.
